IT naming conventions Top
In most cases, using ‘IT at Missouri S&T’ or simply ‘IT’ will be determined by whether your intended audience is internal or external.
- With external audiences (e.g. prospective students, incoming students, vendors, etc.) use
‘the department of information technology at Missouri S&T’ on the first reference and 'IT at Missouri S&T' thereafter. - With internal audiences (e.g. faculty, staff and current students) use 'the department of information technology' on the first reference and simply ‘IT’ thereafter.
Examples:
- External audiences - 'The department of information technology at Missouri S&T would like to invite you to visit our information table at the Resource Fair in the Havener Center today. IT at Missouri S&T provides wide range of technical support for faculty, staff and students. To find out more, check out the IT at Missouri S&T Student Handbook.'
- Internal audiences - 'The department of information technology would like to invite you to attend our Technology Open House. Come preview the latest IT service offerings as well as our hardware/software standards and register to win some really cool prizes.'
